Position Summary
This position is designed to develop high potential recent graduates for future management roles within the A&I group of ShawCor. The Management Training Program (MTP) involves multiple 8-16 month jobs rotations, which provides exposure to areas of the company with primary focus on operational activities. Throughout each rotation, MTs participate in a variety of projects that allow them to gain valuable knowledge, hands-on experience and make an impact on each department. The MTP is 2-3 years long, where assignments are assigned by the Operations Manager/ General Manager and their staff. The management trainee is expected to be an initiator of projects and to provide the spark to make a difference within the division. The MTP also offers a unique mentoring relationship to further develop and assist Management Trainees in career paths.
Duties
Manufacturing:
- Production: Enhance supervisory and management skills.
- Materials Management: Identify root causes of material variances and implement viable solutions in reducing costs & improving turnovers.
- Manufacturing ERP (IFS) system.
Engineering:
- Product Engineering: Become familiar with the order engineering process and work with the configurator.
- Quality Control: Be familiar with the ISO quality system and perform various assignments (i.e. QA engineer).
- Process Engineering: Work on assignments to improve manufacturing process output and efficiency.
Human Relations:
- Work with employees to motivate and improve operations in the plant and office.
- Analyze and provide technical and HSE training to shop floor employees.
- Assess employee performance and contribution.
- Participate in measuring employee satisfaction.
Sales/Marketing:
- Become knowledgeable and analyze ShawFlex order entry cycle and produce recommendations to improve.
- Provide technical support for the regional managers and customers in North America.
Financial:
- Be familiar with the division financials and how to retrieve cost data from the system.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical or relevant field preferred
- Analytical ability to evaluate a diverse range of internal and external information and apply a variety of problem solving techniques.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently in constructing and executing projects.
- Possess strong people skills, be a team player and motivate team members to ensure acceptance of proposals and foster an environment conducive to change and continuous improvement.
- Must be pro-active and determined with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
- Knowledge of MS Office and statistical software.
