Job description

Are you a high-energy Sales Engineer with experience in Stormwater products who is looking for an exciting opportunity with a dynamic team?

Composite Production Systems (a division of Shawcor) is seeking a Stormwater Sales Engineer, in the Western Region. The Sales Engineer will focus on stormwater pretreatment, filters, retention/detention, infiltration, and storage products. Shawcor Ltd. The Sales Engineer is a key member of the Water and Wastewater team and will lead the strategic business development activity in Stormwater products for the Western United States. This role will have a major business impact on the organization due to the significant scope and breadth of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a complex environment and willing to leave no stone unturned. The successful candidate must have a proven record of driving revenue growth, developing a value proposition, and delivering value to clients. This person will have the ability to develop relationships and work with both contractors and distribution.

The primary responsibility of the Stormwater Sales Engineer is to open and develop market opportunities and close the sale for our retention/detention, infiltration, and stormwater treatment products by obtaining acceptance for their use in design and construction specifications at the local level with civil engineering firms, contractors and occasionally sell through distribution. The primary product emphasis is on managing water volumes, preventing water pollution and restoring water quality with structures and water-quality components needed for a comprehensive treatment train. The position will focus solely on the local engineering community while working closely with the sales team in the industry. This position is flexible on location in the Western region and travel is anticipated to be up to 40%.

 

Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Understand national and regional markets & factors impacting stormwater strategic sales business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain an active social media presence.
  • Navigate social media, website search engines, engineering, and contractor websites to understand key stakeholders, project contacts, and decision-makers.
  • Effectively maintain and develop relationships with key decision-makers in target stormwater accounts to support geographical expansion initiatives.
  • Have a strong operating knowledge of water distribution opportunities, civil engineering plan sets, and contractor installations means and methods.
  • Manage multiple accounts, adapt to changing priorities and be action-oriented.
  • Formulate, develop, and coordinate the delivery of value-driven strategies for existing and potential new customers to achieve new business objectives.
  • Participate in the bidding/quoting processes, purchase order, order acknowledgment, delivery, and onsite logistics for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and assess potential external partners that can support Shawcor’s Water portfolio
  • Contribute to the definition and strategy of Shawcor’s Stormwater business.
  • Prepare action plans for each product with major business objectives that support the action items.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the sales and management team in your territory
  • Maintain sustainable sales funnel and build strong relationships with Design Engineers, Contractors, Distributors, and Regulators
  • Technical Support and Training for territory sales managers and rep agencies through presentations, correspondence, and technical training for territory sales managers
  • attend functions of key industry organizations and attending trade shows for specific product lines
  • Enter and track all projects in CRM database and update projects to reflect an accurate status and to deal with conversions of projects to competition
  • Provide month-end reports

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Civil); MBA (preferred)5 plus years of experience in the stormwater product markets with a proven track record of selling/delivering multidisciplinary engineering services.
  • Established relationships with key clients in the stormwater markets
  • Up to 40% time in the field driving business development activity
  • Drive to succeed with a willingness to “leave no stone unturned”
