Lake Superior Consulting is currently seeking a CAD Technician to join our growing drafting and design team! This role will be based in Duluth, MN; Minneapolis, MN, or Omaha, NE.   

 

The CAD Technician will assist the drafting and design team with creating and modifying a CAD drawing. This will include creating, modifying, receiving a basic red-lined drawing, and making the associated changes to the drawing. These drawings are then used to create bidding and construction documents for the client.

 

The CAD Technician is an entry-level position. This individual’s work will be closely supervised and will follow routine or standard procedures.

 

Specific responsibilities: 

  • Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.
  • Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings, and sketches as directed by engineers.
  • Be responsible for the knowledge of building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details, and the organization of construction documents.
  • Revise existing drawings as required and correct “As-Built” drawings.
  • Conceptualize and design in a CAD Technician role and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.
  • Communicate effectively while working in a team environment.
  • Compute basic calculations.

 

Requirements

  • A.S. Degree in drafting and design, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • No experience necessary
  • Have a moderate understanding of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D, Plant 3D, or CADWorx, preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and some database knowledge.
  • Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to pass an Autodesk products skills test

 

Physical Requirements and Demands:

  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.  Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
  • Ability to work long hours when projects demand.
  • Ability to productively work from a remote working environment as needed.
