THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Field Technician, the Field Service Technician is responsible for field installation and training services for clients and their contractors, allowing them to be proficient in all Composite line-pipe products. This position will work extensively with internal and external parties and requires a blend of technical and interpersonal skills to enhance the Composite System Experience at the field level.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate and maintain company-assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Directs and ensures that Line-pipe products are installed according to company policy and procedures
• Responsible for installing fittings and being the “Line-pipe expert” onsite to support customer projects
• Support Line-pipe Sales through installation guidance and expertise.
• Responsible for communicating project scope changes to Project Coordinators.
• Reports all necessary failure information, collect samples, take pictures of failures for liability purposes, and repair lines per the Line-pipe Installation Policies and Procedures.
• Create Service tickets with accuracy and submit them in a timely manner to ensure proper invoicing
• Directs and ensures loading and unloading of all Line-pipe products and property is done according to Shawcor Composite Systems installation manual.
• Follow up with customer’s field representatives and installers to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Onsite supervision of installations to ensure that the integrity of the client’s infrastructure meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for the Line-pipe Installation Procedures.
• Prepare job summaries of all projects for Composite Systems management
• Responsible for quality of Contractor training per Shawcor Policy and Procedures.
• Report to Regional Depot when not performing field service duties.
• Reporting Responsibilities; accurately and timely: Timesheets, Service Tickets, Safety documentation, Job Safety Assessment, Contractor certification forms, Failure investigation form, Contractor Assessments
• Adhere to all Shawcor and client HSE requirements and always promote and encourage safety.
• Manage daily workload and priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, e-mail)
• Bilingual (English / Spanish) would be an asset
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively
• Excellent customer service with a strong work ethic and high personal standards for performance
• Creative and positive attitude, team player with excellent collaboration & communication skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot as needed
• Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines
• Knowledge of installation/repair of pipelines preferred
• Hydraulics and/or oil and gas experience preferred
• Previous industry safety training
• Previous knowledge of working in extreme outdoor conditions
• Strong safety mindset with commitment to working safely
• Valid driver's license with a clean record
