Cathodic Protection Technician II



Lake Superior Consulting is seeking to fill a Cathodic Protection Technician II position at any of our regional offices or remote.  

The Cathodic Protection Technician II is responsible for ensuring the pipeline system is operated in compliance with all company and client policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations, and coordinates maintenance and operations for the pipeline system within the company. Our Cathodic Protection Technician II’s work with the CP systems but also play a critical role in client communication and internal process improvement. This role involves a large amount of travel and fieldwork.


When not committed to Field Services projects the successful candidate will be expected to learn other skills related to multiple LSC service lines.  This will allow for future growth within LSC.



  • Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
  • Prepare oneself and crewmates to execute cathodic protection projects
  • Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs), provide OJT for newer technicians
  • Operate and use testing equipment, mentor newer technicians whenever possible
  • Identify and perform troubleshooting on cathodic protection systems
  • Gather data, prepare records and reports in a timely manner
  • Install, maintain and repair components of a cathodic protection system
  • Document and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvement
  • Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines



  • Experience with oil and gas operations, construction, and/or maintenance highly preferred. Relative experience may include land survey, navigation, interpretation of engineering designs, mechanical repair, IT, and/or construction.
  • Ability to travel extensively for physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
  • Highly motivated and thrives leading in a dynamic, team-based environment
  • Capability to operate a company vehicle, ATV, and use general hand/power tools
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
  • Good organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Desire to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and management, locally and through other office locations
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Desire to teach others about basic cathodic protection testing applications
  • Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and build positive working relationships
  • Well organized and ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements (CFR 49 Part 192 & 195)
  • Knowledge of NACE standards and test methods
  • Ability to use computers and typical office equipment
