Mechanical engineer II

Lake Superior Consulting is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary facilities engineering team!    This position will be based out of any of our office locations in Duluth, MN,  Minneapolis, MN; Houston, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; or Omaha, NE.

 

 

This role will support facilities and pipeline-related design, and construction management projects from inception through to delivery. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical works, with a strong focus on the utility area of the business. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff, external contractors, financial control, and strong management of change. This role will require mechanical engineering design, calculations, and evaluation as well as various degrees of project management.   

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Accurately complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Provide support in estimating, contracting, design, construction management, integrity management, or commissioning functions for projects involving pipelines and related facilities.
  • Willingness to provide technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish best operating practices.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and detailed reports.
  • Read and interpret industry codes and standards and how to best apply them to the needs of projects
  • Produce details of specifications and outline designs.
  • Confer with clients, engineers, and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Assist senior personnel in the preparation of design reports and final project reports and submittals
  • Recommend modifications to senior personnel for approval.
  • Interface with clients virtually and in-person in a way that provides a positive working relationship

  Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Ability to work in group settings with a project team.
  • Competency with Microsoft office suite (word, excel, outlook, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Oil & Gas and/or clean energy experience or exposure is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and passion for being a key member of a successful team
