The Procurement Manager is Responsible for:

  • Lead negotiator and direct accountability for supplier agreements for a given number of commodities for the region .
  • Responsible for supplier selection, sourcing, qualification and benchmarking
  • Implement sourcing strategies to support Division objectives & provide competitive advantage
  • Identify, analyze and develop Supplier Base to meet current & future commodity needs. Consolidate as appropriate and source alternate materials

 

Accountable for the following initiatives:

  • Create & maintain sound, long term partnerships
  • with Suppliers & the Business Community
  • Purchase orders as required for regional
  • purchases and direct materials as required.
  • Manage logistics for the region

 

Develop and execute strategies for assigned procurement Area/Region to include:

  • Spend analysis, market analysis , competition tracking, make or buy analyses
  • Indirect spend control - Electricity, fleet vehicles, insurance,

 

Manage Supplier's compliance, cost, quality, delivery and performance for a given number of commodities;

  • Leads data collection & Supplier performance monitoring by plant
  • Ensures problem resolution support for Supplier day-to-day operations issues: quality, CR&D, inventory, & payables

 

Accountability for identification, execution & follow-up of continuous improvement & cost reduction projects

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced procurement knowledge; theories , processes, best practices;

knowledge (practical experience) implementing risk management strategies (ie commodity mapping , spend analysis, strategic sourcing principles , hedging)

  • Superior negotiating skills; excellent written & oral communications
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven contract management skills
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, motivate others
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor 's degree: Operations management industrial
    • engineering, business administration with procurement specialization or other
  • Special Certification or Training above formal education: Purchasing Management Association of Canada certification would be considered and asset
