THE ROLE
The Industrial Mechanic (Special Projects) reports to the Special Projects Manager. The incumbent supports all Shawcor Composite Systems manufacturing operations by providing technical and hands-on support to the Plants, Plant Engineering, Asset Reliability, and Engineering groups as assigned or required, to ensure the lifecycle of infrastructure assets are optimized, projects achieve desired outcomes, and operations are adequately supported.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting and executing projects related to The Special group from the Engineering Master plan
• Travel to various Shawcor sites (domestic and international) to complete projects (approximately 3-6 weeks per quarter)
• Perform equipment installation and commissioning and closely cooperate with Engineering teams during this process
• Perform all tasks related to the assembly and commissioning of equipment
• Provide feedback on the progress of the project to the team leader
• Supervise third-party contractors
• Cooperate with Procurement on source parts, tools, and suppliers and complete Purchase Requisitions (PRs) in the IFS system
• Support the development of Standard operating procedures (SOPs); Hazard Analysis Assessments (HAA’s) and other equipment documentation as required
• Support the development of preventative maintenance across the organization and HAA’s and participate in the toolbox meetings on a regular basis as well as for all non-standard tasks
• Provide technical expertise to analyze and troubleshoot activities for production processes, equipment, and components
• Support the development and implementation of the Asset Reliability program across the organization and support the Asset Reliability team on day-to-day tasks as needed.
• Provide feedback on the PMP and PMP improvement
• Provide mentorship to production operators relative to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Support execution of the continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide input in form of continuous improvement ideas
• Support development and implementation of department strategic plan and roadmap
• Support Team Lead, Special Projects to ensure division targets are met.
• Maintains a safe working environment by following safety rules and regulations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years experience (ideally in a manufacturing environment)
• Self-Motivated with strong interpersonal and technical skills
• Be a team player with strong communication skills
• Proficient at working with all levels of management, internal and external parties
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Able to travel extensively as per the job requirements both domestically and internationally.
• Valid Driver’s License and Travel Document (Passport) will be a requirement for this role.
